Alumni members´ access to the University of Chester Library
Information for Alumni
Members of alumni are welcome to use our library collections for reference. On campus, this includes reference access to book and journal collections, use of photocopiers charged at the current rate and study facilities. The University provides access to: the Internet; those electronic information resources we subscribe to which allow walk-in access for visitors; access to standard desktop software and printing facilities charged at the current rate. Please note: access to the University network and to electronic information sources which require registration are not included in this agreement.
External Borrowing Scheme
Alumni members can also apply to join the External Borrower’s scheme. For Graduates of the University of Chester, a reduced annual (bronze) fee of £35 including VAT is payable (£12.50 for the first year following graduation). This entitles external members to borrow a maximum of four items from the main collections for up to three weeks.
Normal library regulations, including fines for the late return of books, will apply. The main collections are the academic stock, children’s books and school resources material. Journals are not available for loan to any borrower. External Borrowing Rights do not include additional or specialist services such as inter-library loan, access to the University network or loan of audio visual equipment. Access to some electronic resources is possible where our licences permit – please double check this with the staff from the Helpdesk.
Further information on the External Borrowing Scheme is available from the Helpdesk, on 01244 511234 or lis.helpdesk@chester.ac.uk.
The two main libraries are the Seaborne Library at Chester campus and the Broomhead Library at the Warrington campus. There are also libraries at the Faculty of Health and Social Care sites. Please visit the University's website for more information on the libraries.
